An incident that is experienced as a “traumatic event” can cause us physical harm, emotional and/or psychological harm, as well as, spiritual harm. These are events such as:
- Death of a loved one
- The loss of a relationship, a break-up or divorce
- Move to a new location
- An abandonment
- Witnessing an accident, an assault, or a death
- Experiencing an accident, or a physical and/or sexual assault
- Physical injury or pain
- A serious illness or threat of serious illness
- A natural disaster
- The threat of terrorism and/or war
